Cork English College (CEC) has an enviable location, right on the shores of the river Lee in a beautiful Georgian style building. In such a central location, the school is surrounded by cafes, restaurants and shops, which are just minutes walking from the door of the school. Other sights of interest are located within walking distance, such as the English Market and the Finbarr’s Cathedral. Students will find their needs are attended to in any aspect of English education which they may need.
The team at CEC have a program of organized activities in which students can participate. These are normally included in the course price or if not, they can be participated in at an affordable price. Should students desire to plan their own activities in Cork and surrounds, the school is able to assist.
Teachers at CEC have a very high level of teaching experience as each teacher is required to have taught English for a minimum of three years. On top of this, teachers at CEC are all equipped with a university degree as well as a TEFL diploma (Teaching English as a Foreign Language).

CEC Cork - Thomas
It really was a new challenge to travel by myself from Austria to Ireland. The people there are very nice and help you with grammar mistakes or other mistakes so that you can correct them! I also met a lot of nice classmates from different countries that are also eager to improve their English and that want to spend their weekends on different excursions to learn more. The school was very laid-back and I improved my English a lot!

Just two weeks were not enough to improve my language knowledge, but the host family was very helpful and nice.

I had a very good time in Cork. Cork is a pretty and small city where you find your way easily and you feel at home right away.
I think Cork English College is a great school. I have never been to a language school which was so well organized. It was amazing. I also liked the fact that there were not so many students from Switzerland. It was full of people from Spain, Italy and France.
The CAE exam preparation was great. The lessons were well structured, the teachers were good and we prepared ourselves in a small group specifically for the exam.
The accommodation was okay. Unfortunately it was not very clean but I think you can't expect too much. The room and kitchen were well equipped with everything you need. I felt very comfortable there. The accommodation was a bit further away from the school or from the city centre in general which is not ideal for going out. But it was cool to live only a five minute walk away from Mardyke Arena, a Health & Leisure Centre. The accommodation and the Arena were part of the UCC (University College Cork), so I could use all the facilities at a reduced price. It is very big and had a swimming pool, different fitness rooms and classes.
In summary, I can say that I had a great time in Cork and I would go there again. The Irish are very friendly and the pubs and their atmosphere and music offer an unforgettable experience.
Kind regards,
Lea

I had a very, very good time in Cork. Four weeks went by way too fast. The landscapes in Ireland are incredibly beautiful!
The school Cork English College is located in the center of the city which was an advantage because you could walk the streets and get a refreshing drink at a pub after class. The school offered a lot of worthwile activities in the afternoon and on weekends. I visited the Blarney Caslte, saw Irish Dancing and visited the Cliffs of Moher. The intensive course for the Cambridge First exam was very helpful. I learned a lot during the four weeks, including what the exam would look like and how to tackle it etc. The exam was quite difficult for me even though we practiced at school and I felt confident about the exam.
I got to know a lot of new people from different countries with whom experienced a really great time. I stayed with a host family, 15 minutes away from school, with a beautiful view on the River Lee and Cork. It was hard for me to leave Cork but I am sure that I will come back to Ireland!
Greetings,
Ladina

My host family is so nice. I had a warm welcome just like you would expect from the Irish. The school is also great. The teachers are pleasant and funny. They try hard to give everyone individual attention. The atmosphere is good and the extra-curricular activities are interesting. I also like Cork itself a lot. The weather is currently wonderful, a lot of sun and nice temperatures.
I like it so much here that I will stay a little longer. I had such a great time at the CEC!! Everyone was so helpful and nice. The teachers are very motivated to advise and support every student individually. There are also plenty of opportunities to deepen your language knowledge. You learn a lot of grammar but there is also a lot of speaking which is the most important part for me. The city of Cork was perfect for me. It is not too big but has everything you need. The people are very friendly. My host family took really great care of me, I felt like I was in a hotel.
Altogether, I can only recommend a language course in Cork, already because of the people you meet from lots of different countries!
Best,
Mirjam

The course with 28 lessons per week was quite exhausting, especially because you also get a lot of homework you have to do at night. I could not participate in the afternoon activities because I was always in class during that time. The teachers were all really nice though, friendly, helpful and competent.
The private accommodation was alright. The host was very friendly and helpful. The food at home was unfortunately not to my taste at all. It was mainly cooked in the microwave.
But I was very pleased with the service and advice from Yalea and can only recommend it.
Best

My time in Ireland was unbelievable and the whole four months will remain a positive memory. Cork English College is an excellent school. The care is very reliable and it is really tailored to the student. For this reason I can’t complain about the lessons. The teachers work for their students and give themselves an incredible effort to make the lessons exciting and educational.
I personally really liked Cork. It is not a big city, but still offers enough to not get bored.
I have made great friendships in Ireland and learned a lot about other countries and cultures. I was glad that the proportion of German speakers was not too high.
My guest family was friendly and helpful and from the first day I felt very comfortable.
I can recommend a language course with the Cork English College.

I am doing great here in Cork. The city is the perfect size for me. The school is very good, the teachers competent and helpful. Up until now I also like the variety of activities they offer. I am now in my fifth week here and the activities have barely been repeated.
The accommodation is also good. The house is small and the walls are thin but my host family is very nice and helpful, which, in my opinion, is the most important thing.
Best regards,
Cornelia
