Nueva Lengua was founded in 2003 in Bogotá and since then it has grown steadily and now has two other Colombian schools. Students studying with Nueva Lengua can start their course in one school and then continue in another, enabling them to visit more of the country. Courses follow the same structure in all locations so after studying in Bogotá you will be able to seamlessly continue your program in Cartagena or Medellín.
Nueva Lengua Bogotá is located in Quinta Camacho, a traditional and safe neighborhood just one block away from Flores TransMilenio station. The school is housed in its own private building with a courtyard. In the school, coffee, tea, water and a microwave are available for students. All the teachers at Nueva Lengua have a degree in teaching Spanish as a foreign language, as well as several years of experience.
Lessons are taught in small groups, ensuring that all students are given personal attention and can actively participate in each class. At the beginning of each lesson, any understanding or communication problems are discussed to enable students to work through any language issues and improve quickly. Students have a short test every week to check their progress. At this point there is also the option to change levels, if appropriate.
The school offers a program of cultural activities to enable students to learn more about Colombian culture. In all group courses, you are given a free dance lesson and a free Colombian cooking class. You will also learn more about Colombia in your Spanish lessons, where you will discuss topical cultural themes using various materials. Over the weekends, Nueva Lengua organizes a variety of excursions to enable you to explore the city, the region and its culture. This includes museums, rafting, horseback riding, hiking to the waterfalls, a visit to the thermal baths and, of course, some parties.
